Reading And Genres

Reading is a very fun experience. You can read non-fiction to learn about a subject and/or how to do something, but why would you if you can read something that's completely made-up and fun instead? You can read fiction to dive into your imagination and run with it. You can still be connected and feel related to the characters by their way of thinking being so much like ours, and at the same time you can have all kinds of impossible things going on. Read this to learn a bit more about some good book genres!

Science Fiction

Science fiction is not always just big, green-headed, one-eyed aliens invading Earth and humans fighting them off with futuristic weapons. That's the cliche version. Good sci-fi books are much more than that. With aliens that are very much like humans in so many ways. They may have powers or better weapons, but the emotions and thinking is so like humans that we can actually relate to it. Those are the kinds of sci-fi books you should read.

Dystopian

Dystopian novels are amazing. They allow you to travel into another world where peace is a lie. It is much like our world, but the evils that often secretly try to destroy the world/place they are at are much more apparent and obvious. They have things that you feel like are so extreme and horrible, but then you realize that similar things actually happen, but in different ways, and you just fall that much more in love with the book.

Fantasy

The world where other than how the character may think, there could be almost nothing like our world. On the other hand, it could have everything the same as our world except for a few things like made-up creatures, magic, powers, etc. Fantasy is the genre where anything can happen and you can get away with it because you can create a whole new world where things that don't make sense to our world, the author could say that it makes sense in their world, and that's what really matters. If you really want to let your imagination run, look for fantasy novels.

Historical Fiction

This is where you can learn so much about history and a certain time period while having a good time. The main characters will be made up and their stories will be made-up, but it would be similar to the many similar things that actually happened to many people during that time period. The author makes it so that you can have a perspective or a person's life you can connect yourself to so that you could follow the history while understanding what it was really like for the people. This is very good if you want to learn history but you don't like non-fiction books.

Classics

Many people can find these boring because the style of writing is so old, but if you look past that and study the story in depth and think about the book itself and not its writing style, you can learn a lot of morals from the life of a fictional character that was written a long time ago.
